Go figure, right? Hey I drink too, but some people are simply prone to violent tendencies and other idiocy when they've had a bit too much. I worked as a DJ for many years in the bar and club scene around the Cleveland area, and saw plenty of times what happens when folks drink too much. I'd still love to do my little experiment. Take 2 groups of people. Group A: place in a room with all of the alcohol that they can consume. Group B: place in a room with all of the weed they can smoke. Give both groups a controversial topic to discuss. Which group do you think becomes belligerent, and comes to blows? My money is on Group A becoming belligerent, with Group B maintaining cooler heads. I think your friend's security company is on the right track.
To make your experiment even more interesting....Those in both groups have a firearm in the trunks of their cars which they can retrieve at any time.
Which group goes for the guns?
The drunks. The stoned people don't want to be arrested for smoking weed.
No, these laws existed before him, and no, he cannot create, or abolish laws with a stroke of his pen. Only Congress can do it.
Not true at all because he does not need to change or abolish any laws. Obama can change the Schedule I list for any substance other than those added by law. Cannabis is on the list because Obama wants it on the list.
"A 2014 report by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies and the Drug Policy Alliance accuses the DEA of unfairly blocking the removal of cannabis from Schedule I. The report alleges that the methods employed by the DEA to achieve this include: delaying rescheduling petitions for years, overruling DEA administrative law judges, and systematically impeding scientific research. The DEA continues to refuse the removal of cannabis from Schedule I despite wide-scale acceptance of the substance among the medical community, including 76% of doctors, for the treatment of various disease.

My guess is that many, if not most, DEA folks are well aware that marijuana is not the hazard that, say, heroin is. They want it on the Schedule I list because it gives them maximum scope when they are going after the really large traffickers.
