You assume that no one here lives there or knows kids, family or friends in the area.
Page 1 has a poster who's children go to this school. It wasn't something anyone asked for, apparently. It was something the district chose to do. Words on a calendar is what we are talking about, right?

"Where I grew up, "hunting season" was an excusable absence from school." In our school it should have been baseball opening day lots of absences that day for sure.

Whaaaaat?
In it's simplest terms sure. As I said they just wanted to be d icks so they took away the words but are still giving time of for Jewish holidays.
In slightly more complex terms they would rather pretend to be secular rather than make provisions for kids of the non dominant religions so that they could observe one extra holiday and other kids could learn about the one that fell on the same day as a holiday that they were already observing.

This is rich. Closing for a holiday (Christmas or Easter) while refusing to acknowledge it says it all.

We don't close for Easter. Christmas is called "winter break" just like we have a fall and spring break.

The Derby is a weeks long event, culminating on the race. I think the kids in Indianapolis get off for race week also.

ah, gotcha. Makes sense.

The kids in NY, NJ, CT and some parts of New England have off for the Jewish High Holidays and all throughout Passover. I am sure kids in KY don't have off for those
