The House easily passed a measure on Friday authorizing construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, sending it on to the U.S. Senate where the issue is expected to come up for a vote next Tuesday.
Lawmakers voted 252 to 161 to approve the project. Thirty-one Democrats, including a handful who lost reelection last week, joined with all but one Republicans who voted."
Results and bipartisanship. That's what everyone wanted, that's what they got.
The irony is that it may not get built for some time if ever now even with a law that authorizes it. Low world oil prices make piping oil to the gulf for sale to China less lucrative, maybe even unprofitable.

Do you seriously think oil is going to remain at current pricing levels?

When has selling out the well-being of the common people in favor of corporate interests ever failed to gain bipartisan support?
Well, it would create about 35 jobs ..... and, of course, a few billion for a small number of oil/refinery tycoons. Why wouldn't that pass the Senate? Being in the back pocket of industry tycoons is very bipartisan.

You make it sound like a simple question, but its not. I admit im not as involved in this as someone like Mircea is, but my understanding is.....
Many of the opec states cannot survive at this low of level of pricing, as such they will need to increase their production (possibly against OPEC wishes)....which while lowering the price would provide them with more money.
Saudi on the other hand CAN and is trying to undercut American fracking oil.
Thats the simple version of the topic, then you get into types of oil production, and where its refined, etc etc etc.
But with us fracking oil, its suddenly a lot more interesting.
