Personally it has started to get me leery of Republicans and conservatives. Growing up as a Republican in CA I hadn't come across much social conservative/ right wing christian dogma so I didn't know how insane the the rural hick areas of this country really are. This forum has really opened my eyes up to it.

A little bit, although not really. I think this forum leans more conservative than the remainder of the groups that I interact with, apart from some family members. This has meant that as long as they're reasonable and fair towards people, I've felt a little more comfortable having more conservative views on some things. For example, I think that the Ferguson situation is nuanced and complicated - however, the majority of vocal people I know are taking a one-dimensional THIS IS INJUSTICE approach, which I think is unfair. Seeing some on the other side saying BROWN WAS A THUG, which also unfair in my opinion, helps reinforce my belief that the situation is nuanced and complicated, which I might not be getting if I was only exposed to the INJUSTICE side.
This forum has also convinced me that people who view one political party, and only one political party, as a scourge on America, probably aren't sources that are providing valuable comments to help me form my political identity.
