We hear a constant refrain from Democrats on how we should invest in infrastructure - especially transportation infrastructure.

And when a pipeline was to be built without taxpayer's money, they scream.

As if pipelines across the country, especially ones passing important oil fields were not important infrastructure...

Maybe they want it hauled in trucks, instead...

But it is. Otherwise every state politician would have just been paid off like good ole days. Its inner state commerce and they have long had authority over that.

They know how important they are. That's why you can mark my word... it'll get passed eventually.. if Trans-Canada still wants to build it in 2015/16. Then the White House can say... "Looky, Looky what we're giving you for this election year...jobs. Vote Democrat". I can't believe that people haven't finally realized that this whole Keystone debacle is being used as a political bargaining chip. This could have been settled years ago....... one way or the other.

They are supposed to be encouraging commerce, not restricting it.

The liberals up in arms over this amuse me because the environmental impact will be quite small.

The conservatives up in arms over this amuse me because the economic benefits will be quite small.

Much ado about nothing. Just a flip a coin to build/not build, it's not very important either way.

KXL provides for 35-50 permanent jobs with 1.5-2 years of temps.
That is all. Remember the claims of 10's of 1000's of jobs?

Some US citizens don't like having their land taken by a Canadian corporation operating on US soil through eminent domain.

Canadian tar sands-> Asia. Got it? US product won't be hitching a ride on a nearby pipe.

Currently running on US trains employing US workers for US companies.
I didn't realize you cared so much about Canadian corporate profits.

You hit the nail on the head. It is neither the benefit nor the detriment that the partisans have turned it into. It makes you wonder why they took some strong stances on it. Maybe because there is really little to lose or gain either way other than whipping up their respective bases.
