Well, I believe someone here doesn't have any idea what the executive action was or what it is limited to. No wonder so much drama.
First of all, Obama's action is 100% legal. But, just because one has the power, does it mean a grant to indiscriminately use that power? Presidents should use their executive authority in times of emergency and emergency ONLY. But no such “emergency” requiring immediate presidential action was required here. Wouldn't you agree?
Nonsense. President Obama has the power under Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution to grant reprieves and pardons, which power is only limited to cases of impeachment. In this, the President's action was a judicious use of executive power in that amnesty was only extended on a temporary basis, and conditional pending legislative action by Congress on immigration reform. (Don't hold your breath waiting.)
Pardon means someone has been tried and convicted. Amnesty means setting aside the law.
It could be more than 2 years, if the next president agrees. But the current permits are limited to two years.
So if a Republican wins, will they end this democrat powergrab? you may be right. . .its not likely, but it is limited to 2 years. Would require another president to push it further.

not really. Authority is authority. You do not grant authority unless its to be used.
Plus - deporting anyone and breaking up families is a lot bigger emergency than anything else on the Presidents plate.
I just looked outside expecting to see America gone, but everything looked the same as it did yesterday. So this whole America is gone must be a figurative thing.
