Default Both

Well, some people here are predominately right-winged. Some are predominately left-winged. The rest of us fall in between. In the end, I think we even out for most issues.

There are some issues where it's everyone against 1 or 2 people.. but that's rare and usually at times when not many are on.

There is a faction of militant left-leaning posters the likes of which I have never encountered in polite society!

The world of internet discussion, in general, leans libertarian, even though most of its participants still vote traditional party lines.

Republicans will claim the board leans to the left. Democrats will claim the board leans to the right.

I don't claim a party. Neither is interested wholly in doing what is right and legal. Very few members from either party can make that claim.

Default I Wish People Would Stop

pigeon-holing people with meaningless catch phrases like liberal, conservative, left, right, etc. These are terms thrown around for negative purposes. Why not debate ISSUES instead of labels?

Because there's an undeniable corollary between the issues and the labels?

Yes, exceptions always exist (The "Pro Gun" Democrat or the "Pro Universal Health Care" Republican), but the issues themselves tuck fairly neatly into the various labels that tag them.

I have found that in general, open forums tend to lean left. Of course there are forums specifically geared to the right or left, but I'm talking just general forums with no specific mission statement. So far, in my short time here, I have found a goodly portion of posters here seem to be conservative, but more seem to be liberal.

Why is this? There are probably lots of factors involved, but I'm guessing that part of it has to do with the fact that right-wingers are generally productive members of society, so they have less time to surf the web and post on message boards. Also, left wingers are often much more vocal about their issues, while right wingers are generally more content to just live their lives and as long as they are not directly being bothered, they don't like to bother anyone else.

Of course, there are exceptions; I am speaking in very broad generalizations, but I still think these ideas do explain my observations.
