This is funny. Republicans love leaving out the ideology of the democrat south!!! If the democrat party that opposed civil rights were liberal in the south why would these same people switch to the republican party? Doesn't make sense.

The democrat party has for the most part been conservative, with pockets of liberals infiltrating the party here and there in different parts of the country.

The republicans who were for civil rights are not the republicans we see today

on the same token look at Kansas, they followed the republican dream, one year later now filing BK

Ya, places like Texas where the majority of Democrats are Mitt Romney types.(Tx dems politically are like Mass repubs)
You can see why the far left socialists like Wendy Davis, don't have a chance.

Heck, Ann Richards was way more conservative than Rick Perry ever has been.

Your propaganda just isn't accurate.

Today's Republicans are absolutely for equal treatment under the law. They don't pander and play racial politics. That's why Republicans support school choice - equal opportunity for minorities. That's why Republicans oppose affirmative action - equal opportunity for all minorities (Asians).

The Democrat Party has ALWAYS been built on racial division. Nothing has changed in that party except they somehow got blacks to buy into their propaganda and fear campaign against Republicans. Just because today's Democrats have morphed into what is essentially an anti-white party doesn't mean they are any more for racial equality than they were back when they were lynching blacks.

No, it hasn't. The bigotry of the Democrat Party just isn't overt today. Their bigotry presumes minorities require government assistance to live. They want minorities poor and feeling victimized so they can mine their votes.

Those Democrats weren't and aren't Republicans, no matter how many times you repeat the lie.

Southern Strategy
States Rights

Your whole argument is flawed!!!
You can fool an idiot that the republican party has not been funneled around any forms of race or racism. If the republican party has never pandered to a certain race then it would have never gotten involved in civil rights period. So therefore it has been involved with race helping blacks before your types switched parties and the R party became the party of the south.

Speaking of lynchings blacks were getting lynched all over the country. Not jiust in Conservative Democrat Strongholds.

If you want me to respond to your post, you'll have to write one that makes sense.

I went through in detail in previous post why the south moved towards Republican, or rather why they moved away from Democrats. I'll give you a cliff notes version here.
1. After over a hundred years of Democratic Party rule filled with scandal, corruption, and poor economic development, some felt it was time for a change.
2. Southerners are mostly of Christianity based faith-some of loyal Democratic Party supporters oppose Christianity where ever possible even going so far as to ban Christmas songs if there's a hint of religion.
3. Southerners love hunting and believe in the right to own guns and use them to defend home and family. Democrats oppose the second amendment and want to end private citizens from owning guns.
4. Many southern communities are involved in the oil and coal industry. Democrats oppose the oil and coal industry.
5. Many southerners volunteered to serve in the military or have loved ones who served. Between 2003-2008 supporters of the Democratic Party vandalized military recruiting stations, attacked recruiters on campus, bombed a recruiting station, and a city council in Berkeley in January 2008 insulted Marines and actively tried to evict them from their city and nearly every one involved were re-elected that same year.

Anytime common sense takes hold and Republicans get control, Democrats come up with some excuse as to why. Democrats are not dead in the South. Trust me. African-Americans, Latinos, Asians, and white liberals still vote primarily Democrat. The thing is Democratic policies haven't worked and people have voted accordingly.
