Wow. So many of you seem to think this is just fine. For gods sake-they are on video using a banned choke hold. I wouldn't call it murder, but it is certainly manslaughter.
So yeah people might be a tad upset. imagine that.
This is a preview of 'cops with cameras', the whole episode was filmed and the GJ decided not to indict.
If riots, then video isn't the panacea it is thought to be.
Interesting that all the media refers to the 'choke hold' and apparently the hold that was used was not a 'choke hold' as a choke hold owns a legal definition. Use of that term by the media inflames the incident recklessly.
Media isn't mentioning the guy had been arrested 36 times and should have known the drill.
Also it makes you wonder as you see a mini cop trying to handle the big guy who was not in the least intimidated. Perhaps if mini cops were not used, less physical effort might be used....probably an urgency to save the mini cop.
Shep Smith needs a berh on the USS MSNBC. What a tool!
I guess cameras are not the panacea, I thought the same thing watching an NFL replays, there will certainly be areas for disagreement.
If you are innocent then you will have a day in court. You will also be alive.
Disagree on 2. If it's not a lawful order don't obey it if you don't want to. If a cop demands to search your car and they don't have a warrant, don't let them. Once you let them search, you've given them permission and you can't sue. And don't give them any information you aren't lawfully required to give either .
I will acknowledge that ignoring #2 is easier if you're white.

"Upset" as in "let's organize a peaceful protest at police HQ and demand a meeting with the mayor and write our congressperson, etc."
or "upset" as in "let's burn this ***** down!!!" upset.
Because most people on all sides of the political aisle can relate to the former but only the left seems to be OK with the latter.
Wow, this one surprised me. The cop basically killed the man for selling loose cigarettes. That is basically a blatant example of excessive force.
Cigarettes are symbols of personal independence.
The collective disapproves.
Hell, the Von Mises group wants to amend the constitution to remove patent law, because they're afraid patents give too much control to individuals. They've even suggested that patents are addictive, and have second hand consequences!
It's unfair that the USPTO will not issue a patent to a corporation!
Corporations are PERSONS!
It's discrimination!
It's a violation of 14th Amendment persons' rights!
The USPTO still regards corporations as mere pieces of paper; and individuals as persons with brains with which to invent.
The USPTO supports a vast individual-wing conspiracy.
Corporations oftentimes have to PAY for a patent, when individuals get them handed to them by the Government.
There is an all out war on the individual.

If their orders violate your rights you do have the choice to disobey.
A good cop will adjust and get what he or she wants a different (legal) way.
A bad cop may get physical in which case (if you can remain calm and continue to obey orders) you will STILL have a day in court and that day may end up with you getting a decent amount of money from the city.
But, overall, you are correct...however, the idea that a white person would slide is a complete myth.
In contrast to Ferguson, I'm surprised and disappointed that there was no indictment in this case, that, while I have no idea what the evidence was that was presented to the grand jury, the video certainty appeared to me to show excessive force on the part of the police.
