In 1967 Colonel Gaddafi inherited one of the poorest nations in Africa; however, by the time he was assassinated, Gaddafi had turned Libya into Africa’s wealthiest nation. Libya had the highest GDP per capita and life expectancy on the continent. Less people lived below the poverty line than in the Netherlands.

After NATO’s intervention in 2011, Libya is now a failed state and its economy is in shambles. As the government’s control slips through their fingers and into to the militia fighters’ hands, oil production has all but stopped.Libya: From Africa’s Richest State Under Gaddafi, to Failed State After NATO Intervention | Global Research

Shame on NATO for stuffing up this country. Besides Gaddafi did warn that extremist Islam would spread if his regime did fell and he was right. Here is a speech by him on that warning:

I know, and there was so much hope in Libya following his ouster and assassination.

It all sounded good, but like Saddam, it only got worse.

No more Gaddafi, Saddam, or Kim Jong Il. Those were the days. Who do we have now? Kim Jong Un? It's just not the same.

Yep, we blundered in both cases with waging war against the legitimate government of those countries. Much like we did in supporting rebels that overthrew the government of Egypt and seem inclined to do in Syria. You would think that our government would learn. Brutal dictators seem to be all that can keep vicious Muslim tribes from slaughtering each other.
