I know I'm going to immediately be accused of misogyny for even thinking about such a thing, but it's a worthwhile debate to have. Note: I'm not asking whether it's a good thing that women are integrating into the workforce and outpacing men, that is, whether the plusses outweigh the minuses. I'm only asking whether there are any minuses.

There is no doubt that since two income families have become the norm, children are farmed out to daycare. No one cares for their children like mom. Latch key children have less supervision after school. The kids are the big losers in many cases.

When she works I have to do more of the cooking. Everybody suffers when that happens.

Well, this is a socioeconomic issue, and like all issues in this realm, there will be good and bad. So, sure, some negatives have come up, but so have many positives.

Women don't wear sweaters like they used to. That's a negative.

The fuzzy ones looked good...

I don't think women entering the work force has had a negative impact. The need for both parents to work has.

It swapped some negative impacts of women NOT in the workforce for other negative impacts of women in the workforce. Nothing is all positive ever.

The need for both parents to work sucks for kids. Parenting suffers when they are both at work. I think it has contributed to the lack of respect today's youth has for parents, teachers, and authority figures in general.

How did the economy survive for thousands of years without both parents going off to formal jobs? It seems like it can survive either way.
