New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Sunday clarified his remarks on race and the police following a grand jury's decision to not bring charges in the Eric Garner chokehold case.

"It's different for a white child," de Blasio said on ABC's This Week. "That's just the reality in this country."

Do all white children also get automatic internships at city hall? Those poor, oppressed babies are going to have such a hard time.

How about if when you get pulled over or approached by police you don't act like an ass?

I'm fairly certain that if you don't:

Resist arrest
Punch a cop
Wave a gun (or fake gun that looks exactly like a gun) around in public
Run over a cop with your car
Shoot a cop with a cross bow
Attack a cop with a knife

Or act like a crazy person with violent tendencies, black or white, you have a 99.9% chance of not receiving single scratch or bruise from your interaction with a law enforcement officer.

As I have said to others; You are being logical. In an emotion-charged issue like this, there is no place for logic.
Please stop it.

It's different for those who grow up in multimillion dollar homes, with a mother and father, and the best education money can buy. That's just the reality in this country.

NYC is getting what they deserved as they elected him.

For those who don't recall, Christine Quinn was doing very well and was out in front of the other people running for mayor until de Blasio pulled out his family and made them known.

This. I think what happened to Garner was excessive, but he has REPEATEDLY put himself in situations where law enforcement was involved, which raised the odds of something bad happening.

I think that the mayor is right on this one (and I don't think that he's right about many things). That said, all parents should talk to their kids about how to deal with the police no matter what their race is.

These various leaders routinely make these statements to the public. They are killing people. The best response for a black person to a cop is to not resist arrest. That is true also for all people,. However, when these leaders ignore the actions of the arrestee and tell the public the problem is race then the lawlessness is encourage and more are hurt.

Well said. These are very powerful people speaking irresponsibly. Not sure why they aren't getting it; the people in power supposedly have had the best education. It's almost as if they are purposefully promoting division.
