I've read about that. It's certainly possible that the removal of lead has had some effect on crime rates, but the reasoning behind it seems to be at odds with left leaning thinking. The claim is that exposure to lead decreases impulse control and lowers IQ, which leads to higher crime rates. I couldn't count the times that left wingers have insisted to me that IQ is not important, but when it comes to this theory, many seem to wholeheartedly support the idea that it is.

I think you should reread your own quote (In bold) it's possible to have a low iq and not be violent but when you ad in poor impulse control AND low iq than you have a mix that can be dangerous EVEN with a high or even normal iq poor impulse control can still lead to more acts of violence.

Yes, not all dumb people are violent, but the correlation between criminality and low IQ is extremely strong. This has been shown in multiple studies, but many on the left want to dismiss the predictive value of IQ scores because it doesn't fit in with their worldview, except when it does, like when they want to use a convict's low IQ score as grounds to get him off death row.

Having said that, those types that seek to harm innocent people, and prey on the most vulnerable of our society for no other reason of being a demented sick f***, IMHO need to be dealt with in the harshest manner possible!
