That being said, I would not even put that in the same category as the shameful defeat the US was dealt at the hands of the Chinese in Korea. The US set a record for running away that is hard to match.

If Putin wants to start trouble in eastern Europe, NATO will have their hands full and then some.
You talk about the Chinese in Korea around 1950 chasing off the US military; please post up a link.

Uh; once we helped finish off Germany, Japan was declawed long before us nuking it. That country was unable to do "boo" except for the kamakazes once we sunk their navy and starved out their air force because of no oil.

You're seriously comparing the Empire of Japan to 2014 Russia?

Right-wingers act like they're scary brave, calling liberals "wimps", yet here they are, shaking in their boots, afraid to offend a country with a GDP less than 15% of ours.

its not the west that has got him down its the the russians he promised pensions to.
and the mobsters that are losing money.
immediate withdraw from ukraine and acceptance of the deportations of the 1000's that have lead the rebellion against ukraine is a good start.
then retribution for 300 innocent people he killed on the air line.
that is a good start.
he might be able to reverse most of the damage but he need to get moving.

You have not read the history of the reason Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Sanctions.

Sanctions are an act of war.

Be very careful here, what you wish for. Those guys don't play around.

Yes, we all saw how they all stood up and fought gallantly when Russian tanks rolled into Czechoslovakia.
All of Europe sat on its hands except France who tried to surrender to surrender to Malta as soon as they heard someone was being invaded.

Regarding the sanctions and Russia, am I the only one who thinks that President Obama normalizing relations with Cuba is a shot at Russia? Think of it, Putin forgave Cuban debt to Russia in exchange for bases there, by the U.S. now having "relations" with Cuba we will be attempting to isolate Russia further.

Anyways, the sanctions have an effect on their economy but oil is what's truly dragging Russia down. I believe I read that this year and next year Russia is predicted to lose $100B from oil, and $40B from sanctions but the thing is this: the U.S. economy is accelerating, the EU aside from a few countries like the UK are slowing down and that is partly because the sanctions are hurting them as well. The US doesn't truly trade with Russia so it doesn't hurt us much, the EU on the other hand are more hesitant to add more sanctions for a completely failed Russia increases the likelihood of an aggressive Putin and also it shoots them in both feet.

Now with all that being said, Putin SHOULD be willing to come to the table and negotiate but I know that he instead is becoming more nationalist (can't complain about that, we'd do the same eg Oil Embargo when we all believe we shouldn't depend on the ME anymore) which may also hurt the West further, Putin doesn't mind being isolated from the West per Se but he doesn't want to be isolated from the World which is why he is trying make up with regions the US may have neglected (South America).

What makes you think, we have not always had relations with Cuba.... Where do you think Gitmo is?
