It always cheeses me when predictions are made at the end of the year for the next year and no one follows up at the end of the next year to see if they came to pass. So, I went looking for predictions made at the end of 2013 for 2014 and found Karl Rove's (who actually assessed his previous year's predictions, too , but let's go to this year). On December 26, 2013, for 2014 he predicted:

1. Obama's Gallup disapproval rating would be higher than 53% (what it was when he made the predictions) at year's end
2. GOP would pick up 4 - 6 seats in the House
3. GOP would end up with 50 - 51 Senate seats
4. Democrats would outspend Republicans in midterms
5. Republicans would lose 1 or 2 governorships
6. Republicans will add to their numbers in statewide offices/legislatures and more minorites and women
7. Every primary challenge in Senate, conservative Republican will lose (would tell you what he said for the House but he used the squishy language of "virtually" which means what? So can't judge that one)
8. Obamacare: GOP political divisions would unite on Obamacare
9. Obamacare: Tens of millions more would lose coverage
10. Obamacare: New Obamacare plans will have higher premiums, larger deductibles and fewer doctors.
11. Obamacare: Enrollment numbers will be smaller than projected, budget outlays will be higher.
12. Obamacare: White House will blame insurers/Republicans
13. On Dec 31, Sebeilius will still be HHS Secretary
14. More liberals Libs will blame racism for criticism of Obama policies.
15. Paul Ryan will have increased influence in the House and will present the most comprehensive health-care plan congressional Republicans have offered.
16. The Iranian nuclear deal will collapse
17. Kim Jong Un will test another nuclear weapon.
18. The new Afghan government will sign a Status of Forces Agreement
19. The White House will resign itself to nuclear Iran
20. The Syrian civil war will be to Mr. Obama what Rwandan genocide was to the Clinton administration.
21. Duck Dynasty will set another cable viewership record
22. Miley Cyrus will fade.
23. Bullock will win Oscar for Gravity.
24. Peyton Manning will win MVP.

My Fearless Political Predictions For 2014 | Karl Rove

I'm sure at the end of this week or the beginning of next week Karl Rove will once again assess how he did and make new predictions for next year. What amazes me are the big things that happen that no one foresees like Ebola, the disappearance of Malaysian Flight 370, blacks vs police, ISIS beheadings, fall of oil prices, all of those illegal kids pouring over the border, Putin, Cuba, etc.

So, how do you think Karl Rove did with his predictions? And, do you know of any other predictions made by anyone else in the news media that were either amazingly correct or way off base?
