I agree with Obama on this one. This is long overdue and no other country is sanctioning Cuba. We also have many Cuban residents who would like to travel home without sneaking around.
I think it is good news. It is mostly symbolic as neither country needs the other. But it is a positive development. There is no point in isolating a country just because it is communist. I think one of the reasons for the hate of leftist countries has always been the fear that without actively trying to destroy them, some of them might actually work, which is the nightmare of conservatives as it could set an example.

Where is it our place to change Cuba? They are an independent country who has managed to continue even with our 50 yr. embargo. It would be better if we open relations and let the court of world opinion pressure their government into change.
Those that want to regain their lost possessions good luck, I have family that would like to recover their losses from the bank crash in the 1930's.
The policy now being revoked never changed Vietnam, North Korea or even China; world pressure has influenced these countries and caused some to change their ways. North Korea will eventually change but when who can say when.
I assume this step might also be a move in response to Putin's recent attempts to rebuild Russian-Cuban ties, announcing a surveillance station on Cuba.
Where does america get off lecturing other countries on human rights while we kill women and children with bombs. The hypocrisy is astounding.
Rubio is lucky he wasnt around when Nixon and Mao shook hands and then there is the whole Russia is our ally thing during WWII.
So do we now get custody of fugative Joanne Chesimard?
