I'm black and read the article. Her claims are absolutely ridiculous. She is a very tall woman compared to the average American female at 5'11. Of course someone asked her to help them get something off a shelf. She's an amazon woman. She was barely noticeable without her usual attire and huge sunglasses and concealed hair.
I haven't read a thing about the tone of voice she was asked with and the look the customers face either.

It's not clear if she was talking about race or that someone in Target may not have grasped or perhaps cared, that she is The First Lady.
I do think it was because no one recognized her why she said it, not because it was a racist thing. think she said the same thing a few years back the last time she went shopping in public.

No she didn't. Both her and Obama were recounting their tales of supposed "racism" that they had experienced and that's when she segued into her outrageous story. This is typical of liberal Democrats looking for racism where there is none.

I never thought it being racist if you asked someone to get coffee. There are times I mistake someone for a store clerk, and times when someone mistakes me for a store clerk.. what is the big deal.. and asking someone to help get something off of the shelf.. usually the short people can't reach the top shelf .. so what is so racist about that? Some people have too much baggage on race and color. It is too bad some people are taught to be this sensitive about race. It is getting way out of hand.
