On June 5, Pierre Cassen and Pascal Hillout, two other members of Riposte Laïque, were sentenced to an extremely heavy fine of 21,200 euros ($26,000) for having written that "street prayers, veils and mosques" were "symbols of occupation and conquest."
On April 10, author Renaud Camus was fined 4,000 euros ($5,000) for having said in 2010 that Muslim culture was slowly "replacing" French culture.
Three years earlier, in February 2011, writer and political journalist Eric Zemmour was sentenced to a fine of 1,000 euros ($1,250) and a payment of 10,000 euros ($12,500) to various associations and leagues. He had said during a talk show that "the majority of drug dealers in France are black and Arab Muslims." The judges considered this was an "incitement to racial discrimination."
The French Constitution and the American Constitution are quite different from one another.
And France has always had a more restrictive view of freedom of speech. In part, from their desire to keep their language "pure", their laws have always been far more restrictive.
So, no, the incidents you've cited could not happen here.

Are the increasing number of Muslims speaking fluent "French" ?

these cases have nothing to do with keeping the language pure.
what he said makes perfect sense. to be penalized for saying such things is insane.
Quote:
"It is what I call 'le grand remplacement' - the great replacement. If there is a new population in France, then we will no longer have our own history. It will be another people's history, and another people's civilisation."
Camus strongly resists charges that he is racist.
"Of course I have been called a racist. I have given up fighting it. I do not see myself as one. I don't think I am unfair about other races. I do not seek to judge.
"But I do think that ethnic belonging is an important factor in the history of the world. It would be absurd to pretend otherwise.
"France has been very good at integrating individuals. But you cannot integrate whole peoples. If immigrants come from a different civilisation which they have no particular interest in abandoning, then they will be representative of that civilisation."
If right-wingers keep it up, freedom of speech will die in America.
Just look at how they react to protesters...
The left is more of a threat to freedom of speech in America than the right: speech codes on college campuses, attempts to suppress right wing radio with the "fairness doctrine", labeling speech they don't like as "hate speech", etc., etc.

No, but French laws that were originally based on keeping the language pure gave the French government much more power to regulate free speech. Our Constitution and our laws do not provide such precedent for laws restricting American free speech.
