.....according to America's conservatives and rich, based on the latest Pew Research Center study.

The center surveyed a nationally representative group of people this past fall, and found that the majority of the country's most financially secure citizens believe the "poor have it easy because they can get government benefits without doing anything in return."

Three quarters of conservatives said the "poor have it easy", even more than the rich, which surprised me. I'm a conservative and do not think the poor have an easy life at all. Are we as a group really that lacking in compassion?

What do you think?

Compassion? What is compassion? I believe as a country we should help others. I have compassion for others who run into unforseen circumstances. I am not for ending food stamps. Subsidized housing, etc.

My compassion also tells me that you are doing people a disservice by not expecting something from them in return. Now that can mean many different things but all assistance to anyone capable of caring for themselves should have threads attached.

I received food stamps at one time. I was also working and paying taxes at the same time.

Good. That means the various safety nets set up for them are working.

Anybody got a problem with that?

What makes me a "right winger". My desire to end the worthless wars? My support for gay marriage? My desire to see the bankers that broke laws to go to prison? My belief that as a country we should see that all can get basic medical care?

Maybe you should learn to not be so judgmental?

Why do not we close our borders to immigrants and deport all the illegals we can find so there will be plenty of jobs available for the poor?

Funny the author never defines what constitutes being poor and what criteria makes one rich.
And no mention of the fed reserves role in the creation of said disparities.

No, your positions don't. Your approach would.
