How is Mr. Paul effectively dealing with the influence of Corporate & FIRE sector lobbyists? I think that would clarify it for me a bit.
For one he supported the idea that those who had lobbied for looser banking controls that then had them blow up in their face not get bailed out. You have a right to discuss your wants with the government. You do not have a right for the government to save you from those desires.

No aggression. It's nothing more than a simple question. Do the people have a right to petition the government?

Boot out special interests and money backed lobbying (legalized bribery) out of our government.
Everyone needs to be on their own in the economy.

.

Every interest is a " special interest".

Through the late 60's it was a rare " retired" Congressman or Senator who affiliated with a lobbying organization or think tank. Things began to change in the 70's there are now more than 200 " retired" Congressmen/ Senators who are on the Payroll of lobbyists/ think tanks. They are joined by the masses of Congressional aides who also use the revolving door betwee Congress and lobbyists/ think tanks.

Lobbyists taught Congress how to, when all else fails, use the power of an earmark to bring home the bacon or otherwise favor a particular outcome. Lobbyiests write most legislation.

The vast Healthcare and Defense industries spend the most on lobbying.

SCOTUS ruled in favor of Citizens United and the floodgates opened. Anyone, with any special interest, from anywhere in the world, may donate any amount of money and do so anonymously. There is something fundamentally wrong when nominees fly into other countries to tell the people who paid $50,000 a plate, what they want to hear.

Expecting a majority of legislators to amend the constitution and that bite the hands that feed them is not going to happen.

Lobbying has been present at the state level all along and extends to municipalities.

Out of state money influence outcomes within every state.

Despite all of the rhetoric from his campaign and his supporters, Paul was never able to get any significant endorsement, nor was he able to attract any of big money donors necessary to run an effective modern campaign.

He had some very good ideas, but those are just that : good ideas.
If by some magical fluke Ron Paul had been elected he would have united Congress across party lines to oppose him. He would have been dead in the water on day one.

Most politicians have some good ideas and Paul was no exception. They all have some goofy ideas too and Paul was no exception.

The GOP has adopted much of the policy, Ron Paul brought to the table.
Many Democrat voters agree with his foreign policy and his stance on the war on drugs.

Ron Paul was the only one to beat Obama in any polling.

The underlying problem is corruption. It will continue until the people rise up and make examples of the corrupt.

That isn't likely to occur until the financial system collapses again.

The idea that the people in power and those who own the people in power will give up their power through free will is quite ridiculous. The only way ordinary Americans will take their country back is by launching a violent Revolution on Washington. There is no other way.

Pretty sure you and Thomas Jefferson were right.
It takes the blood of patriots and tyrants, to fertilize the tree of liberty.
