Learn the difference between High Income and Rich (wealthy). Believe me, if you are high income, learn tax law and get tax advise, if you don't government will taketh away as much as they can, making it more difficult to build "wealth".
I still laugh at the flaming liberal guy I know who constantly complains that he will have to work until the day he died but then spouting all kinds of liberal rants, saying he should pay more in taxes. To each his own lol

Tax that high income and you have a hard time building that reserve. And just because someone made $400k one year they may not the next. Someone can make a high income but not be rich (wealthy). As long as you don't understand that, even if you get a boatload of money you'll always be poor. But go ahead, being that you make $400k, you should know what you are talking about.
The personal median income in 2012 was $26,989 - per year.
If you're struggling to make ends meet on $450K/year, you're a complete idiot with money.

My tax bracket is quite high, thankyouverymuch, and I have yet to see a single red cent from "the government tax payer funded till". Not that I am unhappy about the services I receive - paved roads with streetlights, courts, fire departments, reasonably non-corrupt police and the knowledge that people may be stupid, unfortunate or perhaps simply burdened down by bad choices - but they still have a fair chance of a roof over their heads and some grub in their belly.
I'd like to see some of the folks who claim that $450K is rich try to get by on $37,500 a month after taxes.
I'd like to see some of those who claim it's "hard to make ends meet" on 37.5K/month try to get by on $37,500/year, which happens to be the far more common situation.
If you're struggling to make ends meet on $450K/year, you're a complete idiot with money.
Come to think of it, I did have an acquaintance who absolutely struggled to get by on a good deal more than that. And he was indeed a complete nincompoop in money matters.
(I fondly remember him when the writing was on the wall - as in, "change your ways or end up broke in a year". He was so very proud of his economic good sense when he took the drastic measure of swapping his $160,000 Lexus for a modest $90,000 one. Which, by the way, his girlfriend/sometime fiancee took as a parting gift. Ah, memories.)
