That is what is important not symbolic displays, still he should have sent someone there in his place, not he still wouldn't have been criticized. These are the same countries that refuse to do anything about ISIS and the carnage taking place in Nairobi, that is the larger story. What are these countries doing to attack terrorists in Syria, Yemen and others or to go after the wealthy Muslims that are funding theses terrorists.

Still if he went there what would Fox News lead with tonight

I know,

"The President puts ego ahead of his own safety by going to Paris, how arrogant "

The world leaders and dignitaries that were there didn't march or take part in the rally. What Obama missed was basically a photo op:
A different perspective on world leaders at largest demonstration in France's history

That said, it would have been a nice symbolic gesture if a top U.S. official had attended, and the White House has officially stated it was a mistake not to do so.

a photo op is just what it was, and John Kerry being there would have been the exact same.

There was no real reason for anyone of consequence to be there.

We are playing optics with people who cut other peoples heads off.

Another Democrat won't be Obama, so even that will be a vast improvement.

This particular "photo op" was of World Leaders, arm in arm - LEADING the Rally in Paris. You are absolutely wrong about the World Leaders "didn't march or take part in the rally". The pictures of them are all over the press.

Obama was probably right for not participating/leading the march in Paris. Those leading the march were leaders of the free world, marching arm and arm. 0bama rightfully stayed home and will "follow" after the leaders leave. It's what he tends to do in any Crisis.
