The US ambassador to France should be there to represent the USA. It's his job and that is what the rest of the world expects.
The ambassador was there in his official capacity and as you say, that's exactly the level of open involvement needed. If it didn't sound like a bad joke, I'd say it was the perfect diplomatic way of handling that. (I am sure the DGSE and CIA are burning up the transatlantic phone lines, but the less public light on that, the better.)

Furthermore, let the French mourn their dead. It's about them, not Obama.
Again, agreed. When the President of the US shows up, the rest of the world tends to look upon it as an American event. Plus, the security situation was probably hard enough to deal with.
If he would have gone, conservstives would have criticized that as well.
This is yet another silly thread that illustrates how much conservatives hate President Obama.
Also, more conservative and media bed wetting over Muslim terrorism.
I tell everyone, Muslim terrorists have no better promoters of how scary and dangerous they are then conservatives and the media.
Oh what a relief! We just imagined the co-worker and journalist being beheaded. What a freakin relief. We just imagined the guy trying to kill the cop in NY, we just imagined them yelling Allah Akbar, we just imagined the bombs and killings in malls and deli's. Killing all over the world and threats to kill more Americans.

Because it would be stupid to let terrorists dictate our president's movements just because they attacked somewhere else? Especially, if the attack in Paris was part of a plan to draw the president overseas so they could attack the funereal processions.

I could understand how the list might hurt some feelings... perhaps it was meant to be funny, but maybe it's much too close to the truth.
