Twitter users responded to the Oscar nominations’ lack of any black or minority ethnic actors being given a nod by the Academy with the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.
Most of the posts made fun of the Academy, characterising the awards show as a clueless white friend who makes racially insensitive comments.
Do you mean to actually tell me that the nods went to the the most deserving candidates regardless of their race? RACISTS!!!!!!!
That's also what I think. I was furious that they put down LBJ, a much revered figure in the Civil Rights pantheon. The Director and her staff obviously did research on the period, but purposefully made LBJ a villain to suit their racist purposes. I did see "Imitation Game" and I think that Cumberpatch will win.
The "white oscar" buzz is all about Oprah's Selma - and YES, it was pretty much ignored because they presented a twisted view that did not correctly follow history. The same thing happened with Oprah's The Butler. Somebodies Knickers are in a Major wad.
I haven't seen any of the nominated performances because I don't do the movie theater thing anymore, I wait til it comes out on dvd. But, I'm getting "Boyhood" next in my Netflix queue, excited to see that movie. As far as all white nominees, that's fine if there were no worthy performances by other races. However, if there were oscar worthy performances by blacks, hispanics, asians, indian, etc. then most definitely they should get a nod.

Reason: off topic
Maybe they should create a new category: Best PoC in a Movie. Problem solved.
