I doubt that bit of an age change will have any real affect. Besides, cigarettes are already extremely expensive in Washington, and with the influx of marijuana sales, that should easily offset any losses.

It is stupid, but let's be real here. Cigarettes would have been banned a long time ago if it weren't for the tobacco lobby's influence.

Why should they be banned? No, I disagree. If nothing else there will be no bans because governments are making too much off the taxes.

Smoking is a disgusting habit but so is the mad desire of others to control everything other people do.

19 is the minimum age to buy tobacco products in Alabama, Alaska, NJ and Utah.

Some counties within some states set the minimum at age 21.

What else did you expect out in liberal la-la-land? I wish our elected officials would concentrate on more important things than trying to tell us how to live our lives.

Honestly, I find that to be more disgusting and offensive.

If the age of majority is 18, then anything legal for an older adult to be able to do, should be legal at 18.

It hardly makes sense that you can be sent somewhere to risk your life over some fool war but if you survive you can't come home and have a beer or cigarette.

I never said it should. Smoking brings in several billion dollars in tax revenue each year, but there are harmful external costs associated with it as well (public health and such) and no strong benefit for society. Hence why I think cigarette production would have ceased decades ago if it weren't for the tobacco industry's efforts.

Choose an age, and make that the age of majority. 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25; I don't care, but whatever age you choose, THAT is IT, when you achieve THAT birthday, you are an adult, PERIOD.
Voting, drinking booze, smoking, chewing Snoose, making contracts, unrestricted driving privileges, dieing for your country, the whole 9 yards!
It is asinine to tell people that at 18 you are old enough to vote, but you can't drink or smoke!
NO! Either they are adults or they are not. There should be NO "half way"!
Funny, I know of 30 year olds that are not adults in their lives or actions.
