Again, completely missing the point. Those people booted off are NOT getting training. Because if you are employed 20 hours or more, or in training, you can keep the food stamps.

So these are NOT people that have any motivation to get a job. NONE.

By the way, you're welcome. Because most of us manage to train ourselves without getting any help via the taxpayer.

just looked at craigslist jobs for Maine, take a look yourself ... plenty of them out there from entry level all the way up.

Dock loader for a produce market ... please tell me what able bodied person couldn't do that job, as a bonus 401K and benefits available.

Food stamps along with other welfare programs are meant to be a safety net not a way of life. Time for these losers to get off their sorry asses and support themselves.

Illegal immigration became a tidal wave in the 80's and peaked with the housing bubble. 30 years of "doing nothing" led to right now. It's been the single greatest handout to small business, all along. Who actually built and remodeled tens of millions of homes and commercial developments over the past three decades?

It's done. No matter who sits the oval or holds the majority, millions of undocumented are not going to be rounded up and deported.

You don't hear too many politicians calling for the scalps of those who employ undocumented workers. And of the few who have, don't do so for long because they hear about it from their constituents who benefit from the employment of undocumented workers. Easier to blame the undocumented than the root cause.

If the consequence of employing an undocumented worker was harsh enough, most employers would not risk it. But that's not going to happen no matter who sits the oval or controls the majority.

This country was built on the backs of free and cheap immigrant labor, slaves, legal and otherwise. Millions of people eager to do the dirty work for less than than their US counterparts who condemn them.

Both are extremes.
I am even bring in my own state, we actually have a very low percentage of people on food stamps. Idaho was known for not giving very good benefits and this lead people to Washington and Oregon for better welfare.

Even though the program has grown by over 14 million recipients in the three years of the Food Stamp Recipients ChartObama administration, the bureaucrats are rewarding states for adding more recipients. Apparently, Idaho was also a recipient of a food stamp bonus to the tune of $1.2 million in 2010.

Why are they allowed to now spend here? Seems now the fast food places that get money this way, would surely support food stamps for everyone. Isn't it the food stamps/welfare people with weight problems?

With the growth of the Food Stamp program, we have seen more beneficiaries appearing, looking for a piece of the pie. From 2005 to 2010, the number of outlets where food stamps Taco Bellare eligible to be used has grown by a third. Now, fast food restaurants, like Taco Bell, KFC, Long John Silver’s and Pizza Hut, are lobbying hard to be included.

Why should college students get this?

It seems that college students want to get on the gravy train, too. At a number of institutions of higher learning, students are actively being encouraged to enroll in the program. From Portland State University in Oregon to George Mason University in Virginia, students are being instructed on how to sign up for the Food Stamp program.

Nothing like New York going for the poor train........

Finally, it seems New York City, which once was reluctant to push the program, has jumped on the Food Stamp bandwagon. The city urges the needy to seek aid (in languages from Albanian to Yiddish). Local groups recruit clients at churches and grocery stores, with materials that all but proclaim a civic duty to apply, to “help New York farmers, grocers, and businesses.” There is even a program on Rikers Island to enroll inmates leaving the jail.

It's not just big fancy cars and I didn't imply all people on it abuse it. Many do abuse it and to ignore the fact is foolish. Our government seems to be the ones more responsible for the abuse.

From the comments...

"The article leaves out one other piece of info. They also have the option of doing volunteer work. And then they could have kept their benefits. They are so lazy they won't even do that".

The undocumented don't take the jobs of the documented. Rather, The US people recruit and employ the undocumented. If the employment of the undocumented were subject to very serious consequences, the undocumented would likely return home and stay home.

Instead, of blaming the root cause of illegal immigration- employment, it's easier to blame people who risk everything to enter the US to work.
Wrong again, the blame goes to the Illegals, their criminal employers AND TRAITOR politicians like Obama for making their criminality easier.

And you are completely wrong about them not taking jobs, this latest Obama shamnesty that will give them work permits that will entitle them to work ANYWHERE.

Do some research before replying next time.

Legalities aside, if you were an employer and had a choice to hire someone who endured unimaginable conditions and risks to travel from Central America to the U.S. for the sole purpose of a job or one of the 6000 able-bodied in Maine who can't be bothered to volunteer or train for a job, which would you hire?
