What is the average winning percentage of all black coaches versus all white coaches? I need real data before making a decision on if blacks are unfairly denied coaching opportunities.

Yeah that's what I thought too; one candidate could be any minority.

Personally, if the NFL wants to get more minorities in coaching, I'm not sure whether the Rooney Rule is the best way to accomplish that, unless there were excess minority coordinators that were not getting head coaching jobs. I think a more effective, long-term approach starts at encouraging minorities to consider careers in coaching at the high school, or as a grad assistant or a position at a small college, where the vast majority of coaches get their starts.

Seems that 5 of 32 coaches being black is even more than their population on the public, and their over representation percentage as players indicates they have MORE than they should already.

Yet people like Stephen A. Smith still bellyache about "lack of diversity".

To me it sounds like these people will not be happy until they control everything, and own everything (since there are no black owners).
You started a thread about the Rooney Rule and then you single out blacks trying to shed negative light. The Rooney Rule includes all minorities, not just blacks... And Dan Rooney is your complexion, so who are "these people"?

The minority doesn't have to be black smart guys. It's a good idea to get informed before you start ragging for no reason...

Well, yes, that is exactly why the Rooney Rule was instituted, because many longtime coordinators and assistants weren't getting interviewed or hired.

The NFL and the NCAA are also doing exactly this.

Black coaches have been doing that for years...trying to move up the coaching ranks the traditional route

It wasn't working.

So, drastic measures were needed.

I'm not arguing, just saying the Rooney rule doesn't do anything and it just a racial quota on interviews.

It doesn't guarantee the hiring of black coaches, it just says owners need to interview a number of minority applicants so it shows the appearance the minorities get a fair shake in the NFL.....the final decision is up to the owners as it should be, its their team and money.
