Of course. When you suddenly have several million new customers in your risk pool, it's a boon for profits and stock prices. That the public option was pretty much DOA and excluded from the final version of the bill should tell you how much influence the health insurance companies had.

The newly-Republican controlled house is to vote on complete repeal of Obamacrap sometime this next week.

I just signed up to avoid the penalty, which can be substantial if it amounts to up to 2% of income.

It's absolutely unsustainable, and if they manage to remove the requirement that everyone purchase so-called "health" insurance, I plan to get out and tell them where they can put it. I'm only 18 months away from Medicare, but that's probably even worse nowadays than Obamacrap. The lies that were told about being able to keep your current plan were absolutely blatant. I plan to talk to my accountant yet again.

We have been completely screwed/grubered.

No surprise whatsoever with this bunch. It will completely explode unless it's somehow modified or done away with altogether.

Mickey mouse, the three stooges and popeye could have come up with a exponentially better "healthcare" plan than all the democrats, Obama and his socialist architects and in less time.

Now it is the repubs turn and even if they screw up their plan will be far better than obamacare. Obamacare has a few basic items that any healthcare paln would include. Unfortunately without the media taking part in the the first iteration of healthcare just to make obama look good, it has backfired and makes him look like a disinterested observer who was handed speaking points that he simple recited.

Too bad for us that the media chose to support an historic legacy in exchange for the destruction of the economy, health and well being of the nations people.

Let us know when they actually come up with a plan.

Yeah, too bad they based it upon the republican plan that the heritage foundation came up with, and that was implemented by a Republican government in one state. They should have just gone with Single payer, but they mistakenly thought doing so would result in non stop GOP obstruction, making it difficult to get the plan in place, and functioning......

The Republicans have been trying to repeal Obamacare for half a decade almost. And NONE of them in their "repeal and replace" speeches have actually ever released a plan on the replace part.

Its pathetic and sad.

And the irony is that many republican governors are implementing Obamacare in their state by calling it by a different name and claiming it is their own form of health insurance reform, all the while getting those Federal Obamacare funds.

Do you really want a "government plan"?
The only action the guv should take is complete removal from the health care industry.

Uh, would your plan include Medicare and VA care removal too? Not too sure me and the rest of the Veterans and over 65ers are with you on that score.

Based on what? ACA hijacked portions of Romneycare and the 94' Republican proposal. All the Republicans have left is vouchers...

Hyperbole much? Our economy and healthcare before Obama was all roses or what?

The biggest problem with "insurance" is that it ADDS to the cost.
You can never cut costs for health care when you add a pool of "investors" who get dividends from the machinations of the insurance bureaucracy.
. . .
The one stuck with the bill, is going to suffer.
. . .
Personally, I prefer that government get entirely out of the health care system - licensing, etc.
