Correct me if I'm wrong but I honestly don't see it much....well unless you are referring to calling Romney...mittens
That's my impression, as well. The name-calling seems linked to which party is in the White House. There was plenty from the left during the Bush years.
Sarah Palin is a non issue. Even IF she were to decide to run. she would never get the nomination. I like the woman on a personal level, but I wouldn't even vote for her. I do enjoy watching the left go into panic mode at the mention of her name though. It's amusing..

Who makes the choice the Republicans or the Tea Party for the Republican Candidate?
You actually just put your finger on the carbuncle of the republican party's ass.
The far right, base pick the candidates in the primaries and then the candidate has to move to the center to even have a chance.
After all is said and done, Republicans get a candidate who represents nobody's values.
Democrats have a big tent to begin with. Our candidates represent our values out front and we vote on those values.
That's why right wing conservatives hate us. We're consistent and wear our values on our political sleeve.
And Win.
The world wouldn't look much different, as I assume the generals and cabinet would keep her hands far away from the button. But the country would be a pure laughing stock, for sure.
