But it's happened and you anti gunners always talk about how cops should be the only ones with guns, yet they still shoot themselves...
False statement, I am fine with anyone owning a gun that can prove they have had proper safety training on how to handle a gun and how to properly store a gun.

So you want to price owning a gun out of the reach of poor people.
When did I say that? Or are you arguing that the current price of guns puts them out of reach of poor people?
I'm arguing that adding on the cost of training, certifications, etc would price many poor people out of owning a gun.
Do you not believe that would be the case?
I constantly hear from people who lean liberal that the cost to the poor of getting a copy of their birth certificate gets in the way of them excising their right to vote in states requiring an ID.
If you compare other countries, you will find that lack of access to firearms just means choosing another method. Even if no guns were ever available to suicidal people, it would not reduce the suicide rate by 50%.
Of course not. Nobody claimed that.

In Japan, hanging, jumping off buildings, and jumping in front of moving vehicles are apparently common methods used.
In Denmark, poisoning and hanging are both twice as common as in the US.
It's hard to compare across countries - attitudes and culture makes a huge difference. Some people will find a way. But the UK study is interesting, wouldn't you say?

Reducing the suicide rate requires better mental health care.
Certainly. But let's not kid ourselves - there is a pretty well-established link between easy means incidence rates. Saying "Oh, they would have found another way" is a bit facile.

No I do not believe that is the case because if it was, then the actual cost of a gun would already price some out from being able to own a gun. Heck, have a program in place for those that want to be armed but cannot afford the safety training. I am sure any gun owner would be happy to support that bill.

ROFLMAO!!! Wow, you really do one heck of a job of convincing yourself.
This might not make sense to you, but as the price of something increases, the amount of people who can afford it decreases. I'll see if I can find some articles that can help you with this concept.

I would not. Just because I feel every adult (you know what I mean) should be allowed to purchase a car, I don't feel I should have to subsidize their insurance.
