The Islam of today is a lot more similar to the Christianity of 1000 years ago than it is to the Christianity of today. Heck it is also more similar to the Islam of 1000 years ago than it is to the Christianity of today. To attempt to assign equal culpability to Christians for atrocities of the middle ages as you assign to Islamists for the atrocities of today is not just ridiculous, it is also an insult to the intelligence of your intended audience.

Well the weapons are much more different and the news spreads much more easily. We honestly don't know much of the atrocities of the church prior to 1500 because of censorship. The crusades and the Spanish Inquisitions were vile acts that are comparable to the modern day acts of radicalized Islam and lone wolf radicalized Christians.

Again, that's irrelevant. We are living in the 21st century and we must hold all religions to the same standard of decency, today.

The problem with the word "atheist" is that it defines both a person who has no belief in a Higher Power - in other words, doesn't know or care - and also a person who believes that there is no Higher Power.

Many - probably most - would use the word agnostic to describe the former, but that's not correct. An agnostic believes that there's no way of knowing whether or not there is any Higher Power without physical proof.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.

Agree could shout this from the roof tops.

I don't care who the President is, the problem is the atrocities currently being committed and even more than that the upheaval in our world today. not 1000 years ago

Why can't you be an atheist before he gets out of office?

So i'm not supporter of any relegion, byt it pissed me off.
Why, such incompetent man is our leader? Maybe you can tell me?
Needless to say I'm ready for a new president. He was a mistake... a huge mistake and actually did the ethnic groups more damage. I voted him in. I'll have to think very hard about ever voting in another president of his "caliber".

But we can't live with our heads in the sand and think that only radicalized Islam is violent. The Klan was still relevant this time 50 years ago and they were WASP Christians who hated blacks, catholics and gays (though they were still mostly closeted in the 1960s.)
