just more distractions to the problems facing them now; and certainly doesn't gain them support for those they seek it from. Might feed the madding mob in Greece for awhile. No different than some in US saying all of Europe owe huge debt to US; which goes no where. I mean seeing that is not in the peace surrender like WWI then its pointless really. Its was after all purposely not included because of the results of what WWI ended causing.

Kinda ignores the facts of America apologizing for Japanese internment camps and paying reparations to those whose property was confiscated.

Kinda ignores all the other instances of countries that have demanded and gotten reparations long after the fact.

What's with the great hate on for Greece as opposed to the warm and fuzzies for Germany?

Oh I think I get it now; Greece is more socialistic than Germany ...although they're both socialistic by the standards as set by RWNJ's in America. I guess you get to choose which level of socialism is acceptable to your lofty free market standards that sees fully 50% of your population receiving some government hand-out or another.

Cripes...if you weren't able to enjoy (enforce) the privilege of printing new money to service your debt, you'd have been kicked to the curb a decade ago at least.

I don't hate Greece. I like the pastries. But that wont balance their budget. And start buying back there debts. What they need to do is to start saving enough money to buy their own debts. With that then they can role over their debts and get everyone off of their backs. But you need to bribe the populous to do it over there. And that bribe can be the monetary base used to refinance their debts.

That the recipe other nations should follow now, right?

Greece needs its own currency. Then it needs no one to loan it money so it can work things out for itself. Trade neutral. You can't run a deficit unless someone finances it for you. Greece could print enough money to get everyone working but not to badly into wage price inflation. that with saving enough money to buy its own debts then they can run their internal policies how they want.

This is between Germany and Greece.

If you're not a German or Greek national, who are you to say who should or shouldn't ask for this or that and whether or not they have a right to receive it.

I have no idea what Germany's obligation to Greece is. The Greek people lived under Nazi tyranny, not me.

You keep writing this over and over but have you ever thought how the new currency would stack up against other nations currency? you know the exchange rate. And if Greek currency is nearly worthless how does this make it better for their citizens?

As long as you are trade neutral it doesn't matter how strong or weak your currency is.

It is the opposite of austerity. With that you get very high unemployment. If you print enough money on top of Austerity to get everyone working, and be financially responsible in terms of international trade, that is saving enough to buy your own debts then all is good. You can sort out your domestic problems at your leisure.

I've put some thought into it and I'm thinking currently that they have to leave the Euro.

Silver drachmas would blow the vinyl right off the German economy.
