I have no problem with strengthening our capabilities, but I want to know where the money is going. Republicans want cuts in discretionary spending; the Democrats don't. I could side with either, depending on the details.
That sounds like the good kind of spending, along with R&D.

Yeah, R & D is always good, but what are we getting for our money? If cuts are made, I want to know whose money is taken and given to whom. Republicans like the term 'redistribution of wealth,' and here we have an example of redistribution. Like I said, I could go either way. I need more than the rhetoric.

NATO and the UN should be the dudes removing dictators and going after war criminals. Even then it's tricky; we remove and kill Saddam and a major civil war erupts in his country.
we need the people and equipment to have a strong military

nato/un??? who do you think nato/un is nato/un has ZERO troops...

when """NATO""" sends troops in they TASK the other countries (ie USA) to supply those said troops

much of the spending is MAINTAINING EQUIPMENT
MAINTAINING and BETTERING the BARRACKS for the SOLDIERS
PAY for the soldiers

soldiers get less and less everyyear, because of inflation.....

our soldiers are severely underpaid....

we need a strong READY army, ready to defend not only our physical country, but all of our countries interests

right now you have things going on in Ukrane, Iraq, Syria, Honduras, western Africa, Latvia, Afghanistan, Egypt, Yemen , Libya
each of these requires some manpower...our military is shorthanded , especially for the dangerous jobs we have.... less than 1% of all americans have ever even joined the military....less than 4% are even QUALIFIED to join

why do the democrats constantly want to cut the military and hurt the soldiers????

Right now we need to take far better care of our current soldiers and the veterans. We do not need to keep up most of this industrial socialism nor do we need to be militarily involved in (quote) "Ukraine, Iraq, Syria, Honduras, western Africa, Latvia, Afghanistan, Egypt, Yemen , Libya". All of these involvements are just excuses to keep shoveling money to a few of the pentagon's selected pet industries.

Well from the latest news that I hear we are going to be ramping up and going after ISIS in a 3-year war. So our dictator-in-chief is going to need more bodies and equipment to feed into the meat grinder. That costs money. He is going to ask congress for appropriations and to wage war. Don't shoot the messenger, listen to the news. It's funny, all of the MEN that were executed by ISIS and nothing happens. One American female dies at the hands of ISIS and now we are ready to go to war.....

Where the problem comes in is GDP for the U.S. includes the money created out of thin air. Other countries can't do that.

We shouldn't be running the economy off war.

The answer to off shoring jobs is not war.
