There are innocent Iraqi citizens involved, and we share some of the blame for what is happening to them, just as we share the blame for Libya's turmoil.
We also supplied and trained the "new" Iraqi military. The issue with ISIS in Iraq isn't training or equipment of the Iraqi military, they have plenty of each. Or did until they threw it down and ran away, leaving it for ISIS. It's a matter of cowardice...and siding with ISIS. They aren't willing to keep their country from savages.

The Iraqi government wanted us out. The left in the US certainly wanted us out. We're out, and should stay out. What happens in Iraq now is up to Iraqis. There is no reason to lose another American life over it.

Honestly, as much of a butcher as he was, Saddam understood the Iraqi culture far better than we did. We naively assumed that by freeing a people from a brutal dictator that they could rule themselves in a peaceful manner. We overestimated the culture and the citizens. We should learn from our mistakes and avoid repeating them.

Since that is not what he wants, why even bring it up?

If he wanted to, he could throw his dog off the White House balcony.

why make a public display of it?
Presidents seek authorizations from Congress, because it is Congress duty to handle such issues.

It's common freaking sense that while conducting a war, you do not tell your enemy what you will not do to fight them. What's next, telling ISIS what hours of the day we will perform bombing raids, or which areas are off limits to our bombers?

Its great that 0bama suddenly believes in a stay-behind force in Iraq to offer stability, security, and defense of Iraq. Too bad for all the little girls who have been sold into sexual slavery, raped, decapitated and abused, that 0bama is a few years late with his new revelation.

The Iraqis wanted us out.

Besides, we were finished.

You keep lying to yourself about that, if it makes you feel good. The facts disagree with you.
