Reminds me of this thread:

The fact is neither Obamacare or an alternative is needed.

What does ANY topic have to do with anything?
GOP Wingnuts here on THIS BOARD have been saying for YEARS how they have an alternative for Obamacare. Florida such a plan into place - and it did NOTHING.
So much for THAT "GOP alternative"

People who receive the benefits pay taxes too. In spite of GOP claims, EVERYONE pays taxes of one type or another.

If you can't afford insurance then you can't afford insurance..it's as simple as that.
Which is what made the GOP plan so STUPID.
How could ANYONE be so dumb as to expect such a plan do ANYTHING?
Apparently, Rubio and the GOP found a way to be THAT DUMB.
Who knows, maybe it just comes naturally to those folks.

What net taxes does a woman with two children and a 15K income pay? Subtract the EITC from all the taxes she does pay.

I can only think of local and state taxes that they would pay involuntarily.

As far as Fed taxes..that woman would end up getting back all her money taken from her paycheck and then some.

And anyone that works pays FICA but they get that back at 65/67 with medicare/SS.

EVERYONE pays payroll taxes. EVERYONE who drives pays gas taxes. Folks who live in 45 of the 50 states all pay sales taxes. When ALL types of taxes are taken into account poor people tend to pay a HIGHER percentage of their income in taxes than wealthy folks do.

It is indeed true that some of the POOREST Americans may indeed get more in various benefits than they pay. If you think that's the "Life of Riley" give it a try and then get back to us telling us how much of a great time you had being dirt poor.

not when you take more than you contribute. Paying sales tax with money that isn't yours isn't really paying taxes.

Assuming they live long enough to collect it.
