When any of the students involved realize how screwed they are by the expulsion, and agree to take OU for whatever they can for trampling all over their First Amendment rights.
So a group of fraternity members in a bus chanted racist slogans on a bus and someone videotaped it. What they said is wrong, but is it really that big of story that it deserves to be the lead on the NBC Nightly News. There are millions of racist college students saying things like that all the time. You can't tell people what to think no matter how hard the media tries to lead society.
Isn't there a thousand other issues and things that happened yesterday that are more important?
It's important because these imbeciles might one day be in a position of power over people who at the very least think they don't deserve to be in, and at the very worst "hanging from a tree". We're not talking about some redneck trailer park trash, these are young people who are supposed to be educated people. In my opinion much worse than what Donald sterling said, and he got crucified in the media.
I know the constitution and the only exceptions to free speech are libel and slander.
Nope, you cannot yell FIRE!! in a building. You cannot threaten to kill the President. I stand firmly with all rights provided by the Constitution, but that doesn't mean that there will not be consequences for your actions.
The chant was reprehensible and these students were representatives of their fraternity and their University, therefore, both organizations have every right to shut down the frat and expel the students.
I do agree if this was some knuckle dragging group of white boys singing on a street corner, there would be (and should be) no consequences, but the facts of this case warrant the reaction of the Frat and the University.

That's possible.
I think it's unlikely. Students drop out of college all the time. The expulsion isn't a good thing, but it won't stop them from getting into another OU school. They probably won't be able to get into another fraternity, but that has nothing to do with the expulsion.
