I said decriminalized, not legalized. So far 17 states plus the District of Columbia have decriminalized pot and there have been no adverse after effects.
Since there have been few health consequences associated with marijuana use I'd say you won't be on the hook for anything.
Certainly there are health consequences associated with marijuana like any mind-altering substance. Marijuana like tobacco is normally ingested by inhaling smoke into the lungs, impacting your oxygen transfer system, which is your primary source of energy.
That means it has a negative effect on your CPU, and that is a serious consequence.
If you are willing to foot the bill for all the tests and treatments, I would say go right ahead and get high as a kite. But if I'm getting a bite taken out of my paycheck every week from Obamacare, I'm going to say "keep the MJ ban in place."
You can have your freedom to get high as a kite on MJ, or you can have your welfare state that infantilizes you from cradle to grave. Ultimately and inexorably, you are not going to be able to attain both. The same leviathan state that pays for the consequences of your behavior is going to insist on controlling your behavior.
Booker, Gillibrand and Paul introduce legislation that would remove marijuana from schedule I and would protect medical marijuana users in states where medical marijuana is legal from federal prosecution.

I will contact my congress critters to keep the ban in place as long as the welfare state remains in place. And I doubt that this bill is going anywhere.
And the drug pushers and cartels thank you very, very for your stand. Like you, they sure as hell don't want the ban on marijuana to be lifted at the federal level. They're already suffering bad enough as it is from marijuana being legal in Alaska, Colorado and Washington.
