Yeah, this guy is a leach. But if the loophole is there, someone would eventually take advantage and try the same thing.

I hope he loses in court and that his legal fees aren't cheap.
Illinois corrupt? Never!

4 pf the last 7 Illinois Governors have done prison time. For a while there, Illinois had 2 former Governors in prison at the same time. One was Democrat and the other, Republican who was defended by another former Republican Governor.

Corruption is as bipartisan as it gets.

Illinois does not tax pension benefits, either.

No such thing as a state of federal loophole. It's all tax code and not necessarily unintentional.

Where in the private sector could you find a pension plan that enables a lifetime benefit for working one 6 hour day?

The law did get changed in 2012 to close that loophole.

The loophole was that Illinois TRS system allowed employees to sign up on their first day of work and that included substitute teachers. No min requirements were needed. So he and many others took advantage of that.

Here in Texas the TRS system is set up so that you have to teach so many consecutive days to sign up and each year have to teach so many consecutive days to get credit.

That's 30k per YEAR plus he is already collecting two other pensions of similar amounts.
