The NCAA itself is a forced association that used what is a long extinct economy of scale and monopoly to control universities. The SEC, leading the other power conferences on its coat tails, is going to show everyone including the NCAA what voluntary association means sometime in the next 10 years max. The big news is the NCAA needs the schools more than the schools need the NCAA. If the power conferences take their ball and go home and start their own football and basketball tournaments, the NCAA is screwed.
So this is a flea trying to threaten an elephant.
Let the NCAA boycott Indiana. Good for them. Won't mean a thing to the B12 Ten, not in a few years anyway. Just stay tuned.
Private businesses should be allowed the FREEDOM to refuse service to anyone they choose.
What was missing in the bill is a requirement by the businesses to label just who they will refuse service to. Be specific. Say you not service gay customers, etc. Put it on a sign at the door.
Then those of us who are repelled by it can take our business elsewhere.
Do 3% of the population not deserve the same rights as the other 97%? Tell us, what is the magic number percentage-wise that an American group must reach before they are eligible for equal protection under the law?
Ask the smokers. They're about 20% of the population and are constantly being harassed and vilified. But that's ok, because smoking is yucky.
I love it too. I hope it costs Indiana a lot of money.
This will not be a happy ending for Indiana several businesses have already threatened, the NCAA's and the Gamers have threatened to hold their tournaments elsewhere.

It won't end with the NCAA. Indiana may never see a Super Bowl or an NBA All-star game either. I doubt much of what you claim for the NCAA will come to fruition any time soon. Over-all this bill will hurt the state more then anything.
Looks like Indiana is about to lose Gen Con as well, which brings in an excess of 50,000 people every year to Indianapolis. Lots of small businesses are going to feel the hit.
Not when someone puts themselves out there by owning a business, though. That business must cater to ALL.
Why? What magic happens when someone applies for a business license that makes them lose their first amendment rights?

And what is it called when you require me, through the force of law, to associate with someone I might not want to associate with? My only alternative, if I want to retain my 1st amendment rights in that situation, is to shut down my business, put my employees out of work and lose my livelihood.
Why do you hate the middle class so much?
