Umm maybe Islamic fanatics are trying to gain control of these oil fields.. Like ISIS in Iraq much? The Shia-Sunni are the main culprits of sectarian strife in the region, which oil prices will increase because Arab Countries are outputting money in military conflict... Never thought of that huh.

Who cares about their old fields? North America could easily replace the Middle East as an energy provider and we would do it better. From Mexico to Canada we got a lot of energy to develop but our domestic policies and limitations on exportation.
