When opinions can create thought crime and such instant hysterics, both sides can enjoy the toasty warmth inside the blast radius.
As lead antagonist in the entire drama, she gets whatever negative publicity comes her way. Thing is, Marino will probably have a 5 year deal for a prime time show on MSNBC before I get done typing this.
I've posted several time on this board about a lawsuit from 1964 (Piggie park BBQ). The owner was Christian with the sincere religious belief that God commanded the races not mix. Now, the owner (Maurice Bessinger) didn't blanket discriminate against black people - he would sell them food to go - but under no circumstances would he seat and serve black people in his restaurants.
Was Maurice Bessinger a racist? By the logic underlying your quote above, don't you have to answer "no"? He didn't blanket discriminate against black people - he only did so when it conflicted with this religious beliefs.
This business has no problem with serving gay people in their store. They only object to catering an event that forces them to violate their right to practice their religion freely. Gay people are not being systematically denied service due to an owner's religious objections, and the Indiana law specifically does not allow casual discrimination. This story is being completely blown out of proportion, assuming that its going to lead to widespread discrimination of gays.
Today, its hard to find actual incidents of the presumed story of gays being denied service actually happening. With how much bigotry and hatred is suggested by slippery-slope fear mongers, it should be easy to find dozens or hundreds of stories where gay people are being refused various types of services. But the debate always went back to tiny number of actual incidents.
The truth is, most Christian business owners don't discriminate against gay people. They'll serve them, they'll provide services for their weddings. They'll rent them apartments. They'll give them jobs. Businesses that are found to be legitimately hateful or bigoted will be singled out and quickly go bankrupt.
Besides, I believe that anyone should have the right to turn down business with any party for any reason they choose. We should all have that freedom. A gay screenprinter should be able to turn down a Christian's traditional-marriage shirts. A Black person should be able deny catering a KKK rally. This maximizes freedom for all, while blatantly hateful business owners will go out of business quickly once they're exposed.
Keep spinning. No one's property is being seized. Just because someone owns property, doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants with it. Regulation of commerce is a cornerstone of the Constitution. Property owners are bound by law. Business owners are bound by law. Sorry, your whine is quite weak.

You didn't answer my question:
Was Maurice Bessinger a racist? By your logic denying that these pizza purveyors are homophobic, don't you have to answer "no"? He didn't blanket discriminate against black people - he only did so when it conflicted with this religious beliefs.
The true idiot in all of this is Mike Pence. If you want to blame someone, blame him. He was asleep at the switch. Perhaps Jan Brewer should have given him a heads-up.
these same whites whining about this would ban blacks if they could as well.
