If you actually research things a bit, you realize that Saddam and all his generals actually believed that he had a viable WMD program. His WMD scientists had lied to him. Because of the Clinton era scrutiny, Saddam and his generals couldn't personally visit and verify that their theoretical programs were real, the scientists were able to take the money and run. All they had to do was create lots and lots of false evidence that made it seem like they were making progress on nuclear weapons.. Saddam may very well have gone all the way to the brink with UN forces to protect a completely nonexistent WMD program. And we went into Iraq thinking "there's way too much smoke here, there must be a fire." It fooled the Russians, British, French and Israelis too, didn't it?

Clearly we know that Saddam did have WMD's. Chemical weapons are WMD's. Thousands of Kurds were gassed. That's a matter of history. But I think everyone agrees that we're not very interested in his chemical or biological weapons. It was strictly his presumed nuclear threat that we actually cared about.

To lie you must KNOW that there was no weapons in Iraq, and still tell your story. I find any accusation that the administration lied (instead of being grossly incompetent) is a reach. There was significant evidence that Saddam did not have weapons of mass destruction. That evidence was hidden. . not due to a conspiracy of sorts but more that. . the boss didn't want to hear bad news, so you kept bad news to yourself.

Lie is far further than I'll give bush. Incompetent administration filled with yes men who didn't challenge their leader. . yes I'll give you that. To give Bush the CREDIBILITY that he lied. That his administration understood and manipulated the media is far more intelligence, power, and credibility I would give the administration

lied - no, they weren't that smart.

a bunch of f'n idiots and yes men - yes

and i'm no liberal, just a freaking independent . .

The Deafness Before the Storm

THEY IGNORED f'n Osama, because they were so hell bent on Saddam. F'n numb nuts they were
So you think Bush was some kind of brilliant mastermind who "manipulated" the entire world and the UN? the entire world thought Saddam had WMDs way before Bush was even governor of Texas.

Sorry, it is a washed up theory, that the truth was out there but the entire world believed Saddam had WMDs, simply because Bush was " the boss" and he "didn't want to hear bad news."

When it comes to Saddam as a threat possessing WMDs, developing nuclear weapons and fears of him using WMDs again in the future, where did Bush say anything different than Bill Clinton or any of the other leading democrats?
Or different than what the UN was saying?

America used WMDs on Iran via Iraq.

Seems no one, not even Saddam or Israel, wants to use them directly, or in a lone-wolf style; not since Japan, not since Fukishima.

Republicans are just blabbering jick-heads.

From what I've read, the deception was intentional. Saddam knew there were no nukes. Convincing the world that he did kept enemies at bay.

Several United Nations resolutions disagree with your fantasy world. Not to mention the large allied nation coalition that joined Bush in the war against Saddam.

Even China and Russian voted along with Bush at the UN, becaue they too believed Saddam had WMDs.

WTF, did you join this forum without the capability to read. I said the exact opposite.

He is a idiot. A clueless idiot. He is supported by yes man. They wanted to believe there was WMD. So they propped up all evidence that there was WMD. Ignored evidence that there wasn't. . .people got the hint, and only showed positive information.

I'm sure it went like this

"latest intel shows WMD program ended in"
"dave, you know thats not what the bosses want to hear. . .keep digging"

no mastermind needed. Just a bunch of idiots and yes men.

No manipulation needed. you just focus on the story you want to tell.

Mastermind

yeah - what the f'. They went to war with the wrong country because they were IDIOTS not because they were masterminds.
