1.9 isn't near replacement, and 2.2 is not above replacement. In theory, yes, but in practice, you have to have more than 2 children per child for real replacement. If you factor in infant mortality, infertility, etc, it takes more than 2 kids per woman to sustain a population.

I believe in developed nations 2.1 children is usually considered replacement levels. Infant mortality levels in developed nations are very low, most kids who are born will live long enough to have children of their own.
As for the previous question asked by another poster, I don't have the numbers off the top of my head but Cuban-Americans tend to have fewer children than Mexican Americans and those from Central America, and Puerto Ricans are somewhere in between. However there are more Mexican-Americans than any other group. I believe the birthrate for Cuban Americans is 2.2 or 2.3 children per woman. 2.8 children sound about right for Mexican-Americans.

Ok, I wasn't 100% sure of the exact numbers, but I'll buy yours.
Still shows whites below replacement and blacks barely above.
If it weren't for illegal immigration, we'd be in the same boat as Japan and Europe: an aging society with fewer taxpayers.
Proving something. I'm not sure what.
Its proving that we all best get to breeding if we want to remain an economic force in the world. 3 is a good # one for mom one for dad and one for the country!

On the numbers of whites and latinos, one fact was left out, ' the fact that alot of latinos are included in the white count because they are considered white in some polls.
All over the world the numbers of whites are decreasing ,while the other races are increasing .
Russia seems to want to change this because they are now awarding their citizens for having more babies .
Whites are killing most of their young by abortions .
Whites will be missed by all races , they have been the only race to keep democracy any length of time . Most nations go into dictatorships, like this one is headed for now, thanks to all the complacent, lazy greedy naive citizens and immigrants from third world nations who now vote for more social programs of a nanny state .
