The humiliating truth remains that socialism brought about a toilet paper shortage. And this is not the first time. It turns out that this is a chronic problem for socialism:
But perhaps the right people have just not yet given socialism a try. Damn. One would think that after 100 years, the right people would have come along at least once.
Road needs can be met quite well without government.
Until recently the idea of toll roads every few miles, while perfectly acceptable to privatized roads, would have made actual interstate commerce and travel a miasma of chaos. Even today how would you feel if a interstate, suddenly just upped the cost to 1,000 a car for a 50 mile stretch? Sure in your fantasy capitalism land someone could compete! Reality-it takes a ton of time, and property ownership to do so. And yet...meanwhile, 1K per truck.
Sorry, but no. Capitalism SUCKS when the area it is in has large barriers to entry and competition. Like roads for example.
Everywhere I have been with toll roads has had them be nothing but a hassle, and a perfect example of this unless heavily regulated.....to the point where they dont represent capitalism so much as socialism.....

You have been driving in the wrong places. Come to Austin where you can drive 75 MPH through the toll booths. They work like a charm and make transportation quite easy and pleasurable.
Government control eventually kills a society. Here is a good example;
-----------------------------
Whether a state has a more corporatist flavor or a more “socialist” flavor (crony systems typically have both) it is the denial of prices, the denial of reality, which leads ultimately to disaster. If the pricing mechanism isn’t allowed to work distortions in the economy arise. Distortions make the system wobbly, and sooner or later the system is off the rails.
Churchill said that the greatest failure of capitalism was not widely dispersing the wealth of the system and that the greatest virtue of socialism was equally spreading misery among all citizens. Venezuela is nearing socialist bliss.
Socialists/Libs/Dems will only be happy when everyone is living in mud huts, burning animal dung for fuel, and clad in rough plant fiber clothes with no shoes. Then everyone will be equally as miserable and true happiness will have arrived.
Perhaps one's own lot in life should be of greater concern and we should stop counting other people's money.
Republicans are always screaming about Socialism and big government, but the Republican version of Capitalism is far, far worse, and has never worked.
So Venezuela's example is a shining example of what does work, mmmm?
