And as long as they don't abduct, imprison, starve, rape, torture, gas, burn, shoot, and do medical and genetic experiments on innocent children, women, and men, we wish them all the success in the world.
Some of the people on this board don't like being reminded of the past. I get it. Nobody wants to believe their own people were monsters. Especially so recently in history. Lets face it, all of our ancestors were monsters at some point in our evolution as humans, but nobody wants to believe it was as little as 75 years ago. But reality tells us that they were. It does nobody any good to pretend it didn't happen.
well nobody is pretending it did not happen. Holocaust denial is a CRIME in Germany.
What I really don't like is that it is still okay for somebody to use ethnic slurs against Germans and Japanese. Nips? Kraut? Seriously?
Should all white folks be responsible for slavery? Even the white folks who were born in 1985?
Should all Japanese/Germans be responsible for WWII ? Even a mixed Japanese/German like me? I was born in 1985.
Even my grandfathers had nothing to do with WWII, so do not call us Nips or Kraut.
Although I do agree it is not good to pretend crime didn't happen.

As long as Americans don't enslave black, brown or yellow people, we wish them all the success in the world. Enough of the whippings, rapes, lynchings, segregations and prejudice some of which hangs on to this day.
Some people need to look into the mirror before getting all moral.
Comparing Norway to the USA is like comparing a barrel of oil to the Iphone 6, the internet, and the Nuclear bomb.
I thought the Internet (WWW) was a British invention? Is not the iPhone produced in China? What happened to "Made in America"? The U.S. is the third largest oil-producer in the world. Norway is only number 14.

Your remark is way off.
We have been talking about this subject in reference to WWII. If anything, I think my comment shows the exact opposite of what you are implying. I have shown that I don't hold anyone born since that time at fault, and my comment reflects that. What I do take issue with, is when someone says that the allied forces weren't justified in their actions. They were. Sorry if some "beautiful cities" we're bombed, but all the fault belongs to the Germans of that time.
I suppose there are many places people like you could live and get by on a meager income while being assisted by a half-hearted welfare system.
Have at it bro. I only wish I could compel you to actually move to such a place and experience it instead of just writing about. You would soon long for the freedoms you aren't grateful for.
Exactly.
I know a bunch of Norwegians and Swedes who have moved HERE bc they can actually live a nice life with nice things and not be taxed to death.
US has fallen so far in so many areas, that it is only a myth that it is the best country to live in. That myth may slowly sinking as Americans expand their horizons and travel outside of their country, however it is a well known fact, that most Americans have never been outside their own country so how could they have a clue as to what goes on elsewhere.
What a sad situation.
You make the common mistake of using averages to draw conclusions. The average of 120 degrees and 30 degrees is a very comfortable 75 degrees. But that number is meaningless.
The USA is still one of the best countries to live in. The American dream is alive and well, and millions of us have made a very comfortable life for ourselves with zero to begin with. Millions more have traveled all over the world and know a lot about how other people live.
There is nothing mythological about American exceptionalism if one views the idea through the 19th century lens of Alexis de Tocqueville who first coined the phrase in 1831. However, exceptionalism particularly as de Tocqueville has proven not to be eternal.
