Pedophile isn't a sexual orientation....not sure who told you it was. But whomever it was, they were wrong.

Sexual orientation is basically the temptation, inclination or desire to have sex with someone or something, depending on certain characteristics they possess. So, bestiality is also a sexual orientation, as is heterosexuality.
However, that "orientation" does not require the act itself. And in some cases, those who indulge in such actions are destined for a lengthy term in the penitentiary, or sometimes worse. As you can see, while the temptation or the "orientation" is something we do not completely control, the action on that temptation very certainly is, and the law recognizes the difference.
So whoever told him that was not wrong.

There's merit in that. I have nothing ringing in my ears that finds fault in that opinion. Makes sense. This definition of "sexual orientation" has taken some dangerous turns in recent decades. Pedophiles wanting their ...desires..to be put into the definition, being mostly what I'm speaking of. Wishing to see the desire a and mere act of sexual intercourse, with who/whatever considered to be "oriented". Some clarity needs dumped on that issue. An earlier comment, regarding "consenting adults" is where a boats being missed , in some minds.
These wackjobs, pushing the idea that children can be "consenting and willing" sexual partners, and that "love" is involved in their professed preclivities. I don't think so. Yet, the argument persists, and even grows in numbers supporting it. Some very...provocative...devils advocacy, has been put up here, casting some light over that putriid shadow.
This investigation, or whatever it is, being discussed here, is misdirected, and yes, hiding from the IRS, in the process. I'll buy off on that. Be that as it may, both sides of this are flying blind, as to what the core of this is. Each, should be able to recognize each others concerns, regarding what "orientation" should mean, and that consenting adults, that want to have sex with each other, can do so and have their privacy respected and not be judged on their character , based merely on who they have sex with. But, there are rabid factions, on both ends, that muck up the swimming hole, but good.
Makes it hard to land in the middle of, without breaking ones neck on hidden rocks. Both ends of this, have various agendas. Some not so innocent, hiding out in the pile of good intentions. All the denials aside, to the contrary, can't sweep that fact away. The wheat and chaff needs seperated, here. Then, perhaps, progress can be made.
Well let me know when you discover peer reviewed research that backs your claim up. Regardless, if you are trying to compare homosexuality to pedophile, then you are also comparing heterosexuality to pedophile, and therefore lose any point you were trying to make in the comparison.
How so? I am saying that all three are sexual orientations. or is that suddenly no longer the case because pedophilia has been brought into the equation?
Normal people see sexual attraction as between consenting adults. Sexual orientation refers to gender preference, not age. Pedophilia is not considered an orientation, unless you also want to compare heterosexuality to pedophilia.
Even among pedophiles there is gender preferences which is why that coach in Pennsylvania was a homosexual pedophile.
Homosexuals are irrelevant. Nowhere in American society does 3% of anything amount to relevance.
