3 billion dollars in foreign aide to Isreal (Iran, enemies, Israeli)

How come the USA gives 3 billion dollars in foreign aide to Isreal every year? They are a prosperous nation aren't they?

You'd think, although my money is on the $3B being basically an aid program to Lockheed Martin and the like.

Interestingly, Pakistan(!) gets $2B.

For all I know, this money is well invested. The Byzantines stayed in business for 1000 years after the fall of the Western Empire largely by spreading around some money.

No, it is for a slush fund when he writes the check to Iran for $50 billion when they sign the agreement to not develop a nuclear bomb.

Israel is a close friend of America who is threatened on all sides. Their continued welfare is in America's interest.


Should they fall, it would be a geopolitical catastrophe for the US, $3Billion is money well spent considering the likely alternatives.

Even if they didn't fall, if they were sufficiently desperate, the use of thermonuclear weapons in that corner of the world would really cause a big stink in the world order.
