HOW DARE THEY!! Next thing you know, they'll be using my tax dollars to fix some road I NEVER EVEN DRIVE ON!!!
Fuel taxes, and you're paying them whether you are driving on the road or not because the cost of those taxes to business are shifted right to the consumer.
Really does not matter how many approve or oppose it at this point, the point is it cannot be killed off with a real replacement, pssst shopping across state lines does not qualify as a viable replacement. So stomp your feet and say it is not fair all you want, but until there is a valid replacement there will be no killing off of the ACA.
I suspect a large portion of the 30% that want to repeal ACA are the Tea Party senior citizens which have Medicare or VA health insurance and couldn't care less about what happens to anyone else as long as their benefits continue in their current form.
I had almost forgotten about the worthless GOP plans to replace ACA - purchase insurance across state lines and tort reform. Like either of those would actually help someone obtain coverage.
The Republican plan to replace ACA or help people without health insurance has always been more tax cuts for the rich and vaporware.
I don't think it's this simple. There were certainly instances of people losing jobs with coverage and subsequently requiring private health insurance but unable to be covered because they had a pre-existing condition.
Yes there was certainly some very bad practices that needed to be addressed like the one you outlined and others. Overall the point remains.
Fuel taxes, and you're paying them whether you are driving on the road or not because the cost of those taxes to business are shifted right to the consumer.
How is that even fair? If those deadbeat, freeloading businesses want roads, let them build them themselves!
While I'm not advocating repeal of ACA, primarily because of the existing conditions provision (which really needed to be put into place) - it didn't go nearly far enough to control the cost of medical care. There's NO reason that health care costs should average anywhere near the $750 a month that it does here in the US. My house payment is $860 a month (split with another person at that), there's no way I could ever pay $750 a month on my own, and neither can the majority of people in the US.
What we really need is a Canada-style system. One that not only provides health care for all, but one that controls the cost of said medical care. In Canada, they have a price list of every medical procedure known to man, and they set the price at what's reasonable, and this price never increases more than the rate of inflation. As a whole, Canada spends less than half per capita on their health care than the US. And they get better results. In Canada, you actually have the freedom to chose your own doctor, instead of being told what doctor to use by your health plan. What a concept, the freedom to chose your very own doctor. Their system is far superior to what we have, hands down. (And I'll go lalalalalala at anyone who dares to argue otherwise.)
If there's any hint that Canada is getting ready to annex one of our states, I'll be moving there in a New York minute, waving a huge Canada flag and singing God Save the Queen...lol. Barring that, I'm an avid supporter of Medicare For All - which would be the next best thing to a Canada-style system.
Don't ask me, ask the guy who's whining about the government being involved in his healthcare.
Knowing Frank's opinion's from the past I strongly suspect he doesn't want anything to do with SS however that choice has already been made for him, hasn't it?
How is that even fair? If those deadbeat, freeloading businesses want roads, let them build them themselves!
Now you're making no sense, they pay fuel taxes just like everyone else. As with any cost a business incurs it's always passed onto the consumer.
