In a court filing, attorneys for Arpaio and Chief Deputy Jerry Sheridan said such a hearing would now be unnecessary, in addition to costing "county taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

Arpaio and Sheridan “acknowledge and appreciate that they have violated the Court’s orders and that there are consequences for these violations,” their attorneys said in court papers filed late Tuesday.

None of that matters, and what you believe or not does not matter either.
Arpaio is currently charged with contempt of court. The Judge presiding over this has been qualified under the laws of the state of Arizona and the United States.

The contempt charge is not a frame job by anyone. The judge himself charged Arpaio. It is within his powers to make such a charge. Arpaio could have been immediately sent to the jail he built as a prisoner under the laws of contempt. That he wasn't was only due to the judge's discretion.

As was his right, he was not required to admit his guilt to the racial profiling charge against him. His innocence or guilt is what the trial will determine.

Suck it up. Facts are facts. The law is the law.

not yet and not to his jail.

right now the hearing is about whether or not arpaio and sheridan intentionally committed contempt of court. if judge snow finds that it was unintentional then it is a civil contempt charge and snow can issue punitive measures ( non of which would be prison ). if judge snow believes that it was intentional then it's criminal contempt ( which is most likely to happen ) and he'll need to turn things over to federal prosecutors for a separate trial . if arpaio were convicted of the criminal charge and sent to jail it would be a federal prison, not one of his.

Yup. I tried to avoid complication, and I'm glad you covered this.

Given Arpaio's age and position, if he's found guilty, I think there is a possibility that he won't do time in any prison, but he will likely be fined. He could be confined with an ankle bracelet to his house, though, for a year or two.
No matter what, Joe is headed straight into a big steaming pile of humiliation, no matter what happens. I wouldn't be surprised if he dies within a few years after his case is settled.

Default sherrif Joe.

I find amusing that you guys zero on any who questions Obama and enforces the law. Which is something that few departments do these days.

it would be interesting if US Marshal Wyatt Earp would come back from the dead and arrest most of these cool aid liberal Obama lovers.. What a team Earp and Arpaio!
A few weeks in the Yuma Territorial Prison would solve many problems.
Joe has Western Justice and we are still the Wild West.

i guess you missed the 400 sexual abuse and assault cases that arpaio's department failed to adequately investigate.

He vehemently denies that he did it deliberately: that would be criminal, and he'd likely be prosecuted. He claims he delegated the implementation of the order, and his subordinates screwed it up.

And the money he offered to pay was chump change: he spent almost 100 times that much on his last re-election campaign, and is planning to do it again next year (or so he says: my belief is that he'll retire rich, instead).

If Earp came back from the dead, he wouldn't be able to: he quit his job as Deputy U.S. Marshal a few months after he got it.

Yeah: two guys who misused the power of their offices to settle personal scores. Real heroes to today's birthers and soi-disant "conservatives".

But they accomplish goals and the over good for Arizona. Sometimes Lawmen have to go to the brink to carry out justice for all and not the few. Like our Failed President Obama, who has lot credibility all on his own.

Earp and Arpaio would not even have to arrest him at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave,

But if you are not from Arizona you would not understand.
