Progressive taxation is the cornerstone of a developed society. Without high income taxes on "the rich," they are able to hoard more. Prosperity does not trickle down in the real world.
Disclaimer: Progressive taxation is not just about revenue, it is about incentive. Higher taxes on the rich discourage excess hoarding and outlandish salaries.

I personally don't have nothing against in recognizing some people are smarter than other and deserve more money, the point is today the limit has been far exceeded
too much money is concentrated in the hands of fewer and fewer people, via political connection and legalized fraud, it's very little to do with meritocracy at this point they are leeching from the masses, from those who work
and the worst is to see middle class people, the most spoiled class, who preases those ultracapitalistic parasites, it's beyond the conceivable
we really need a shift in paradigm toward a deeper political awareness
Both of the foregoing are absolutely correct.
The wealth disparity has reached "obscene" levels - inadequate taxation is the reason.
What does it benefit a society to have the majority of its citizens living in poverty??
Will that correct social ills?
Will these people breed offspring who have opportunities or the motivation to succeed??
Of course, not.
Class/wealth disparity/opportunities to create financial independence were all much greater in the 60's and 70s. I lived those years as a young working adult, and I KNOW for a fact opportunities were better, then. Life was better overall.
Advent of Ronald Reagan - all downhill from there. Bust the unions, make union a dirty word, decrease wages and eliminate health/retirement benefits for working people, unwillingness to INVEST in America evidenced by crumbling infrastructure, offshoring of all our jobs, overabundance of minimum/low-wage jobs w/no benefits and no future.

HOW IS THAT BETTER????? FOR ANY OF US????
Shame on the United States.
yeah, shame on the United States, more appropriately the education system in america for teaching people this ****...
LACK OF COMPETITION is to blame.. Democratic solution, more government involvement, limiting competition and then WHINE ABOUT IT.. like little babies.. waaa waaa waaa...
give it a break.. The tax system isnt to blame, there is a reason why half the nation lives in such poverty they dont pay taxes, hint, its not because the wealthy is wealthy.. even though you believe it is..
Its because such a large segment of society RELY UPON GOVERNMENT for their day to day income.
dah, of course you're going to get more people living in poverty, thats common sense, well to some of us..

No, you've got it backwards. This ***** wouldn't exist if it weren't a necessity and has been for 30 years.
Exactly WHO is the American worker to compete with??? The worker in Viet Nam earning 56c an hour??
The tax system IS TO BLAME. And has been for DECADES.
The only reason such a large segment of society RELY UPON GOVERNMENT for their day to day income is BECAUSE THE CAPITALISTS AND HAVE REMOVED THEIR MEANS OF LIVELIHOOD or are paying such LOW WAGES, that working for a living no longer makes sense.
The capitalists have completely disincentivized the average American worker - and globalization and technology have even devalued education.
As you said,

That's a dreadful, dreadful poll, with vile, slanted phrasing with negative catch-words. If it had been better phrased, it would have been more like 65%-75% in favor.
I can't believe Gallup put it together that way. Or maybe it was created by some biased richer Republican and they forced Gallup to phrase it like that.
Wealthy people will happily renounce US citizenship to stop the US goverment from stealing their money for political agendas. I sure would if I was wealthy.
Rich people are not going to stand by while the government steals the majority of their money. It's not rocket science. Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money. It won't take long for liberal elitists to start whining about taxes.
